Ruth Geldard

Ruth Geldard

Very reportage illustration. Defintiely drawn in the moment. A sketch.
Captures a snapshot of the performance but is unfinished presumably because the song ended or he changed position?
Focuses very much on the musician and his character rather than the communication of the music (guitar is hardly drawn)

This is an interesting image. It captures and exemplifies her process.

Very realistic portrayal of the performer. You get a sense of his character through the detail.
The guitar is hardly existent here but outlined enough that we know he is a guitarist.

This is a loose sketch, portraying the movement of the performance.
You really get a sense of the sound filling the space through the thick background. The thick lines portray that it is possibly playful music, perhaps jazz improvisation - feel good.
Again the faces are very detailed and the performers are captures as individuals but here also body language communicates movement.
